Resident Evil 5 Elite 360 Bundle Now Reservable

Trade in Your Old 360 and Get $25 More

by Sarah

I hate writing articles like this, because I know I just sound like a GameStop employee shilling for the company, but when I come across information like this, I think you guys have the right to know. A few days ago, the oft-rumored red Resident Evil 5 Xbox 360 bundle became a reality, and details emerged about the system and what it would come with. As it turns out, it’s actually a really good deal, but one would expect them to be in limited supply. In other words, reserving will certainly be necessary if you want to get one of these sweet bundles on launch day and not pay ridiculous eBay prices.

Well, now is your chance. GameStop has just started taking reserves on the $399.99 bundles. In case you've forgotten, the bundle includes an Elite red 360, Resident Evil 5, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, and a few other goodies. A $50 deposit is needed for your reserve, like with most major systems, and each store will probably only be taking a limited number of pre-orders. Additionally, you can get $25 extra trade-in credit if you trade your old 360 for a new one, which is why you may want to go the GameStop route rather than ordering through Amazon (which you can also now do).

The system is dated for March 13, the same day as Resident Evil 5 hits stores. If you’ve already got a newer 360 with a big hard drive, well, then this probably isn’t for you (unless you go nuts over different colors, or just really like red). However, if you’ve been thinking about upgrading to an Elite, it appears that there is no better time to do so. Until, that is, the next awesome 360 bundle is announced. But that probably won’t happen for at least a few months, right?

I would really consider this if cash wasn't too tight right now. I am in love with the red system and controller.

SO tempting. I just sent my red-ringed 360 back, and the extra $25 is nice. Oh wait, I don't have any money to begin with. Yeah, sorry red 360.

DAMNIT! I just bought an Elite like two months ago... No, I can't go in for this. I have no need for a red Xbox 360.

Although then it would match the appliances in my kitchen...

What's the normal trade in value for 360? Does the extra 25 bucks get this within striking distance of "worth it"?

Tim, I'd say it's only "worth it" if you really wanted an Elite 360 and you don't already have one. I don't know what the regular trade-in value is (which, by the way, wouldn't include your hard drive), but I can tell you it will be significantly less than you paid for it.

But, if you've got money to throw around like that (BILLIAMS), then what the hell.

If someone trades in their 360 for a new 360, do they get a free HDD swap? Or do you just have to lost all your info and start over?

I'm not gonna lie. I would LOVE to have this. No, I don't have an Elite. So now would be the most perfect time to upgrade.

@ Raccoon: Elites come with a free transfer kit so you can move everything from one hard drive to another, and then trade in your old hard drive.
