Rock Band 2 Set to Blow Minds, Rock Hard
You know, sometimes I really think that I’ve been too hard on Guitar Hero. I used to love the games. I had fun with Guitar Hero III before Rock Band launched, if nothing else, Guitar Hero: On Tour was a unique DS experience, and Guitar Hero: World Tour is looking like it might make Guitar Hero cool again (albeit by copying Rock Band in every possible way).
Of course, then I hear the words “Rock Band 2”, and any attachment I have to the Guitar Hero series is instantly gone. It’s not enough that Rock Band came out and did almost everything right, but Rock Band 2 is looking to actually improve on that experience and make everything better. No matter what Guitar Hero does, Rock Band is a few steps ahead, and I’m now reminded of why I haven’t picked up GHIII since Rock Band launched and became an instant obsession.
The reason for this frenzied excitement is that new details about Rock Band 2 have been making their way around the internet, and I could not be more excited about this game. All wireless instruments? Fully compatible DLC from the first game? All of the in-game songs from the first Rock Band transferring over for free?!? Quieter drums and a drum trainer?!!!!! It’s madness, I tell you, madness! This isn’t supposed to happen! Harmonix is just supposed to milk the good Rock Band name by releasing another identical game with a “2” on the end of it and calling it new! Isn’t that how it usually goes? Oh, my mind is blown.
Below is a less fanatic version of the Rock Band 2 details, courtesy of Kotaku. This game will also be at E3 next week, so expect to hear some of our early impressions in the coming days.

Dude. Insane. The drum trainer will be huge, because that is basically the one thing everyone said about the last RB. "Oh man, that game rules, but I suck at the drums!" Should be nice for people not to have excuses now :)
