Rock Band May Be Getting Countrified
I Hope the Dixie Chicks are Your Idea of Rock
by Sarah

As anyone who has the game knows, Rock Band and its sequel have an amazing catalogue of music, both from the game discs themselves and the extra songs available for download. These songs cover several different genres, including classic rock, grunge, punk rock, and alternative, among others. While some are better than others, what they have in common is that they can usually be categorized as some form of rock music. However, it looks like Harmonix may be trying to branch out even further by adding a little bit of country to the Rock Band line-up.
According to Kotaku (via Country Music Television), five country songs will be made available for DLC at some point in the future. The songs will be from Bentley, Brad Paisley, Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert, and the Dixie Chicks. I can’t name a single song from any of these groups or artists, so don’t ask me if this is good or bad. While I like the idea of having some variety, country music isn’t my personal favorite, so if this is true, the set will be skipped over by me. Anyone else care about getting some country in your Rock Band?

GEEEEW!!!!
ROCK BAND! ROCK BAND!
Jesus, tittie-f'ing, Christ!
I moved out of the Midwest to get away from this crap.
Honestly, I'm surprised it took this long. Country music accounts for an incredibly large portion of music sales every year. Makes sense that Harmonix would go where the money is.
Actually, that sounds more like Activision, now that I think about it.
i'll pass...
Wow... country music isn't all that bad. Didn't anyone out there see O Brother Where Art Thou? That soundtrack was the country version of shiz-nit.
I think that was more folk and bluegrass than country, but I agree, that soundtrack was awesome. Give me Folk Band with a plastic banjo and washtub bass and I'm in.
Personally, I am a closet coutry fan so I might be excited about this for the vocal end of it, but unless the songs are more blue-grqassy they have no place in rock band... then again GH and its need for Beat it is money hungry... maybe rock band just wants to share in the cash flo!
friends in low places DLC = win.
I'm with Dix on this
As far as gameplay goes, the songs wouldn't seem too awkward--much of mainstream country these days tends to straddle that line between country and rock. Still, I don't think I'd really go for it myself.
Okay, I actually have to third the Friends In Low Places suggestion. I would download that.
I could see blues tracks in the mix though. Blues guitar is badass.
