Rock Band Unplugged Gets Release Date and PSP Bundle

Rock Out With Your PSP Out June 9

by Sarah

One of the big PSP games announced at the Destination PlayStation conference in February was Rock Band Unplugged, which will bring Harmonix’s band-simulating franchise to a handheld system for the first time. Today, a release date was announced for the game: June 9. In addition to retailing for $39.99, Rock Band Unplugged will also come in a PSP bundle with a 4-gig memory stick and voucher to download the awesome Jack Black movie School of Rock. That bundle will be $199.99, and will come with the piano black PSP 3000.

Is that not enough news for you? Okay, here are the songs that have been announced so far:

• 3 Doors Down - “Kryptonite”
• AFI - “Miss Murder”
• Alice in Chains – “Would?”
• Audioslave - “Gasoline”
• Black Tide - “Show Me the Way”
• Blink 182 - “What’s My Age Again”
• Freezepop - “Less Talk More Rokk”
• Jackson 5 - “ABC”
• Tenacious D - “Rock Your Socks”

Despite being a PSP owner and huge Rock Band fan, I am definitely not sold on this whole thing. What makes Rock Band so great is the group experience, as well as being able to jam on real (fake) instruments. Take that away, and it seems like you’re just pressing buttons. We’ll know whether or not my pessimism is warranted in two months.
