Rumor: Ghostbusters Game to be Published by Atari

Someone Please Publish This Game

by Sarah

When Activision and Blizzard merged recently, some of Sierra’s games got kicked to the curb to make room for things like a new Crash Bandicoot game, and a new Spyro the Dragon game. One of the biggest titles to get stuck in publishing limbo was Ghostbusters, which was surprising because the game appeared to be almost finished and looked like a guaranteed big seller. However, things may not be dire for Ghostbusters for long, as Kotaku is reporting that much-maligned publisher Atari may pick up the game.

Though this hasn’t been confirmed by Activision or Atari, I do think that this would make sense. Phil Harrison has been looking to turn things around for Atari, and a game with as much blockbuster potential as Ghostbusters might just be the thing to do it. What this would mean for Ghostbusters, though, remains to be seen. We’ll let you know if anyone steps up to confirm or deny this rumor.

Raccoon: It's true, they were awesome platformers... in the PS1 era. Hey, if they released a Crash game as good as the first and third were, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

as great as crash and spyro were and maybe will be, this one was such an easy sell i really think it was stupid on blizzard activision's part not to publish it.

But hey if Atari decides to do this, then smart move on them to do this because its money in the bank.

I hope this is true just to see the egg on GameStop's face for cancelling it. And I agree with pretty much everyone here... money in the bank.

GameStop just said they were pulling reservations because it didn't have a publisher, maybe just to get Activision's rear in gear. They want it out as much as we do, the execs are HUGE Ghostbusters fans.

Amazon now has it listed for June 30th and Game Informer started the issue talking about it's cancellation while showing a 2 page preview toward the end (which looked great). I NEED THIS GAME!
