The Sims 3, like the previous games in the Sims series, was really popular, really addictive, and has already delivered an expansion and a "stuff pack". Now EA is working to take the next step: bringing The Sims 3 to other systems. On their financial conference call yesterday, EA announced that "The Sims 3 on Console Title TBA" would be coming this holiday season, and while no specific platforms were mentioned, the words "console" and "handheld" were used. This probably means "every available system", if The Sims 2 is any indication. It's also worth mentioning that The Sims 2 on consoles was pretty mediocre when compared to the PC version, which doesn't give me high hopes for this.

I've been loving The Sims 3 since it came out, and for me, it's the most addictive game in the series thus far, but I don't see the jump to consoles capturing that same magic. That being said, I'd love to see EA prove me wrong. If the developers can somehow manage to make the console and handheld versions as enjoyable as the PC and Mac iterations, I'll be pleased and impressed. Like the rest of the conference call news, we'll probably hear more in the near future when EA makes an official announcement.
