Sims 3 World Adventures Expansion Pack Announced

Sure to Be the First of Many

by Sarah

I’ve been pretty obsessed with The Sims 3 since it came out, enjoying building beautiful houses on cliffs overlooking the beach, seeing what would happen if a good family man married an evil child-hating thief, and exploring the seemingly endless gameplay options. However, there comes a time in every Sims game when the amount of new stuff to do dwindles, and that’s where expansions come in. The first in what is surely a long line of expansion packs for The Sims 3, World Adventures, was announced today.

While The Sims 3 did a great job of finally getting those Sims out of their houses and out on the town, World Adventures will take it a step further by allowing your characters to explore famous locations from around the globe. The expansion is expected to ship the week of November 16, 2009, which means you don’t have too long to wait. The expansions for The Sims 2 added not just new locations, but new careers, characters, and aspirations as well; if this trend continues, then World Adventures will be worth the money for fans of the game. I was never one for expansion packs before, preferring free fan-made downloadable content for both The Sims and The Sims 2, but I have been so consistently entertained by The Sims 3 that I may pick this up. Then again, by November I’ll be so busy that I can’t afford the time-suck that a Sims 3 expansion is sure to be. Decisions, decisions…

man, i've been neglecting my sims. last time i played, my heart throb of a politician was on his way to a birthday party i was throwing him at the art gallery. he might be a little mad that i left him to go hang out with real friends. i hope he didn't age up without me...

Pretty neat. I like that they aren't just recycling old expansion ideas (except for pets, pets would be cool). Hope they add some nice fantasy elements into the game, because some exotic locals will lend really nicely to that. That pyramid setting on the left looks ripe for some living-dead creatures.
