SingStar: The Beatles Not Actually Happening
Misheard Rumor Actually About Beatles: Rock Band Game Mode
by Sarah

Yesterday, the internets freaked out a little bit after it was reported that Sony, MTV Games, and EA were working together to produce SingStar: The Beatles for the PS3. EA and Sony both held press conferences yesterday, and neither of them announced this game, leaving us scratching our heads and assuming that it was all a lie. As it turns out, there never was a SingStar: The Beatles game in development; instead, the story spawned from a misunderstanding about an all-singing game mode in The Beatles: Rock Band.
Kotaku reports that, though this gameplay option will allow you to play The Beatles: Rock Band as if it’s a SingStar game, only Harmonix and MTV Games own the rights to create a Beatles video game. However, MTV Games is toying with the idea of selling the game bundled with microphones, which I personally think would be a good idea. Most of us already have Rock Band instruments, but only one mic, while The Beatles: Rock Band supports up to three; I would probably strongly consider picking up the game if it was bundled with two more wireless microphones.
So, sorry to dash your hopes and dreams, SingStar and Sony fanboys. The good news is, you can still sing Beatles tunes to your heart’s content when The Beatles: Rock Band hits stores on 09.09.09.
