Sony really was not messing around when they promised that 2009 would be a good year for the PSP. The latest big game to be announced for the portable is the next game in the long-running SOCOM series, SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3. For those keeping score at home, this will be the fourth game in the franchise for the PSP, the third Fireteam Bravo game, and the eighth SOCOM game overall. That may seem like a bit of market oversaturation, but considering it’s been three years since Fireteam Bravo 2, perhaps the time is right.

I’ve never gotten into the SOCOM series, but the last two Fireteam Bravo games got decent reviews, so there is obviously an audience for them; single thumbstick be damned! At any rate, it’s good to see the list of upcoming PSP games getting bigger and bigger, showing that the little handheld that could isn’t dead quite yet.
