Super Mario RPG Coming to Japanese Virtual Console

So, Maybe Everyone Else Someday?

by Sarah

Everyone has their favorite old-school games that they would love to see released on the Wii’s Virtual Console. One such game that I have heard many people ask for is the hard-to-find SNES classic Super Mario RPG. Developed by Square and published by Nintendo back in 1996, this is a game that sounds right up my alley, but I’ve never actually gotten to play it. Maybe if I lived in Japan I would get the chance, as Nintendo has announced that Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is coming to the Japanese Virtual Console, according to Gay Gamer.

While this makes it more likely that the game will end up on American Wiis at some point, no North American date has been released yet. There is no listing on the ESRB website as of this rating, but the Super Mario RPG Wikipedia entry lists the North American Virtual Console date as “TBA”. Well, better To Be Announced than never, right? We’ll keep an eye on this one and let you know if Super Mario RPG appears to be on its way to any other countries.

Really looking forward to this one coming to NA. Hopefully this may encourage more niche titles to be released too, like EarthBound.
