Tales of Monkey Island is Steam’s Top Seller
That's Some Good Voodoo

I think everybody had high hopes for Tales of Monkey Island, the episodic pirate adventure developed by Telltale Games. Critically, Tales definitely delivered, although there was some apprehension about what the sales would be like. After all, having a beloved and critically acclaimed game isn’t always enough to warrant high sales (just ask Tim Schafer). However, there is no need to worry, as the complete pack of Tales of Monkey Island has topped Steam’s top seller list for last week.
Even though only one episode has been released, it appears that gamers are so excited about the return of Guybrush Threepwood that they’re buying all five episodes well in advance of their release dates. If it hasn’t been already, this should prove to the gaming world that the point-and-click genre is indeed marketable once again, as well as opening the door for more continuations of classic series. I’m looking forward to playing Tales once it hits WiiWare, but in the meantime, I have The Secret of Monkey Island on XBLA this week to tide me over.
