About a week ago, Tecmo sent out a press release hinting at an exciting and mysterious new PS3 game. Today, they have officially announced Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 for the PlayStation 3, and it will ship later this year in North America and Japan. Like the first Sigma was really just a re-imagining of the original Ninja Gaiden, Sigma 2 is a reworking of a former Xbox 360 exclusive, Ninja Gaiden 2.

I love Tecmo’s enthusiasm for press releases, but what was the point of sending out a teaser last week if they were just going to reveal the mystery today?
