The REAL Cost of Microsoft's Kinect

We Can Make Fancy Charts, Too

by Sarah

Earlier this week, an internal Microsoft document started making the internet rounds, displaying the "total cost of ownership" for the Xbox 360 and Kinect as opposed to the Wii or the PS3. Naturally, the memo was meant to show Kinect in the most positive light, which of course is Microsoft's prerogative. However, we know these things can get a little confusing, so we decided to show off the actual cost of ownership if you want to bring Kinect into your home, including the things Microsoft doesn't want you to know.

As you can see, Kinect is actually going to cost you much more money than its publisher led on. Sure, one Kinect will be great for you and one friend, but what about the rest of your family? They want to play too, which means another system and another peripheral. You need at least six feet of space to play with Kinect, which means your tiny little living room just isn't going to cut it. It's time to move! Then when your friends decide they'd rather not play with you after all because Kinect Adventures is kind of silly, you're going to have to hire some escorts, and you know how that always turns out. Overall, I'm not sure that this is the most sound financial investment a gamer could make.

Don't worry, as totally unbiased and professional journalists, we're not singling out Microsoft's ridiculous internal documents alone. Tomorrow we take on Sony and the PlayStation Move. Are you ready? I don't think you are.

Hey COLTS420. Right now they are only focusing on two player games. They are not committing themselves to four player games.
