The Sims 3 is PETA's Game of the Year
Because it's More Important to Be Nice to Animals Than People
by Sarah

It's about that time of year again, and most gaming publications and websites are getting around to announcing their games of the year (for the record, Gamervision's GOTY 2009 will be announced tomorrow). Let's not forget the People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals, also known as PETA (and also known as irrelevant), who have just announced their favorite game of 2009. You may remember their ill-informed 2008 pick of Fable II, which they chose because you gained good points for eating veggies and evil points for scarfing down meat. Of course, they did not take into account the fact that you could shoot harmless bunnies and even got an achievement for doing so. Oh well, all water under the bridge, right? This year, PETA is making known once again that being kind to animals is far more important than being kind to people, as The Sims 3 is their 2009 Game of the Year.
I couldn't figure out why at first, since as far as I remember, there are no animals in The Sims 3. PETA's reasoning is the vegetarian character trait, which allows veggie-loving Sims to cook meat-free alternatives--they also get physically ill if they happen to eat a hamburger or hot dog by mistake, which is kind of funny. Of course, in the game, it's possible to make an evil, insane, neurotic kleptomaniac who happens to be a vegetarian, and I'm guessing that's still A-okay in PETA's book. I wonder how they feel about sticking a Sim in a room with no food and removing the doors and toilets. Probably also fine as long as said Sim isn't eating meat.
Now that we've gotten the most irrelevant pick for Game of the Year out of the way, stay tuned to Gamervision to see what our pick is. In the meantime, be sure to check out the Best Ever awards we've been giving out all week so you can tell us how wrong we are.

Cool. I wonder what other pretentious, reactionary, misguided groups think of the year in gaming.
Maybe next year they'll choose one of the Cabala's Adventure titles.
