Things I Learned from Left 4 Dead

I don’t mean to scare you, but the end of the world as we know it is coming, and you need to be prepared. No, the human race won’t meet extinction by nuclear war or ice age, but a much scarier threat: zombies. Existing only to rip you limb from limb, these infected former human beings are the greatest threat our race faces. They multiply like crazy, they never get tired, and they won’t stop until they’re all dead. The good news is, you can prepare for this situation. Simply learn these simple but effective lessons from zombie apocalypse training simulation Left 4 Dead.
In the event of a zombie apocalypse, make some friends.
You’re not going to make it out alone, and that’s the first thing you need to learn. You will have to find some other survivors to help you out along the way. Your real friends are probably already dead (sorry), so make do with anyone still living, whether it’s a crotchety war veteran, bitchy college student, biker who can’t stop complaining, or the one guy still trying to hang on to some sense of normalcy. P.S., that last guy also doubles as a human shield.
Aim, then shoot.
In tense situations, it’s easy to panic, but this doesn’t mean you should just fire your weapon randomly in hopes of hitting something. More often than not, you’re going to hit one of your new friends, and no one likes friendly fire. You’ll also want to conserve ammunition for when the real fight starts. No matter how hairy the circumstances get, stay calm, and always remember to aim.
Fire bad.
When used properly, Molotov cocktails can be a lifesaver. If you need to burn up a group of zombies in a hurry, or need help taking down a Tank, fire will definitely be a big help. However, fire spreads, and can hurt you just as much as it hurts them. It doesn’t take much for the flames to get out of control, and before you know it, you’re on fire too. Just be extra careful when handling flammable weapons. It would certainly be embarrassing to survive a horde of undead only to find yourself burning to death.
Sharing is Caring.
You only have one health pack, but one of your friends is near death. What do you do? If you decided to be selfish and keep it for yourself, then you’ll probably be the next one down. You need to share your health items if you want to survive. After all, you can’t do it alone (see Rule #1). Besides, when you’re on the ground and looking for someone to help you up and pass the pills, you’ll be happy that you shared your own health earlier.
Don’t startle the Witch!
Seriously, that bitch will fuck you up.
