Ubisoft Delays Splinter Cell: Conviction (Again), R.U.S.E.
See You Next Fiscal Year
by Sarah

It's a bad day for game delays, as Ubisoft as just pushed back a pair of them. The highly anticipated stealth title Splinter Cell: Conviction has had its release date moved for about the zillionth time, making me doubt that the game will ever actually see the light of day. Originally due out a couple of years ago, and then last holiday season, and then next month, Ubisoft says we can now expect Conviction in April, which pushes it into the next fiscal year. Real-time strategy game R.U.S.E. has also been pushed to fiscal year 2010-2011, but wasn't given a more specific date than that, which could mean anytime between April 2010 and March 2011.
This is reminiscent of last winter's big Ubisoft delay, in which the publisher pushed back Splinter Cell: Conviction and Red Steel 2 in the same breath. Red Steel 2 is still on track for a March release, but I would really like to know what the hold-up with Conviction is. The game has looked fantastic since Ubisoft showed it off at E3 last year, and I've really been looking forward to playing the full game. Maybe in April, once the dust clears from all the triple-A titles from February and March, Conviction will have more time to shine. I'm also hoping that the extra couple of months in development will be put to good use, and the final product will be phenomenal.
