Ubisoft Unveils James Cameron's Avatar: The Game Limited Edition

If you're one of the few people with televisions capable of producting high definition three-dimensional picture, then you are probably really, really excited about Ubisoft's upcoming game adaptation of James Cameron's newest movie, Avatar. Ubisoft is also pretty excited, and today the publisher revealed the details of limited edition bundles for the 360, PS3, and Wii. The 360 and PS3 versions will come with an exclusive six-inch action figure of Jake Sully, the game's protagonist. Wii owners, on the other hand, get a four-inch figure of Tsu'Tey. The figures will be made by Mattel.
No pricing details were included in the press release, but I would wager a guess of an extra $10 for each, putting the 360 and PS3 versions at $69.99 and the Wii version at $59.99. I'm usually a sucker for special editions, but I'm on the fence about Avatar since my television won't allow me to experience it the way it was meant to be played. Of course, if I'm wrong (which I often am), these little figures are going to turn into hot commodities this holiday season. You can decide for yourselves with the full press release below.
SAN FRANCISCO – September 17, 2009 – Ubisoft announced today that its James Cameron's Avatar(TM): The Game Limited Edition will feature an exclusive Avatar action figure from Mattel. Two exclusive figures, Avatar Jake Sully and Na'vi Warrior Tsu'Tey, are only available by purchasing the Limited Edition Ubisoft game. James Cameron's Avatar: The Game Limited Edition will ship to select stores this holiday for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and the Wii(TM) system from Nintendo.
The Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION®3 Limited Editions will include an action figure of the movie's lead character, Jake Sully. The 6-inch Jake action figure will depict him as an Avatar and will come packed ready for action with RDA-issued fatigues, RDA authentic and detachable backpack, as well as an RDA-issued high powered rifle. The RDA (Resource Development Agency) is an Earth-based corporate entity that oversees the strip mining of Pandora's resources.
The Wii(TM) Limited Edition will include a 4-inch Na'vi Warrior Tsu'Tey action figure, featuring glow in the dark luminescent "skin,” as well as an authentic bow and arrow accessory. Tsu'Tey is the crown prince of the Na'vi.
