Valkyria Chronicles 2 in the Works
Not For the System You Would Guess
by Sarah

In the latest issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu, it was revealed that Valkyria Chronicles 2 was not only happening, it’s coming out this winter in Japan. Subtitled The Gallia Royal Military Academy, it will be set two years after the first and focus on an insurrection within Gallia. However, unlike the first, which was a PS3 exclusive, Valkyria Chronicles 2 is in development for the PSP. That seems like a bit of a strange transition, especially since one of the best things about VC was its unique and beautiful graphical style; I’m not sure how well the PSP will be able to pull that off.
Still, any news on the continuation of this series is a good thing, PSP or not. Valkyria Chronicles was addictive and fantastic, and being able to take that strategic gameplay on the road isn’t a bad thing. There’s no guarantee that this will make it to North America since the first game sold so poorly, but I’m hoping the recent sales boost (thanks in part to GameStop’s Game Days sale) will be enough to warrant a sequel on our shores.
