Valkyria Chronicles DLC Coming Tomorrow
Price Unknown, Sounds Cool Anyway
by Sarah

While Sega and Sony have been promising incoming Valkyria Chronicles DLC for a few months now, it looks like this week we’ll actually get additional gameplay for the 2008 strategy gem. The PlayStation blog promises content “beginning with tomorrow’s PlayStation Store update”, and also details the DLC. Yes, we’ve heard about it before, but it still sounds pretty awesome if you’re a fan of the game.
The blog wasn’t clear as to whether or not all of this will be coming tomorrow, or if the new modes and missions are coming one at a time. Either way, I will likely be getting all of these things:
• Hard EX Mode – fight your way once again through the entire Imperial army, where the enemies are more lethal and your main tank Edelweiss is unavailable. You’ll have to be more strategic in order to overcome your opponents.
• Edy’s Mission “Enter the Edy Detachment” – six members have been separated from Squad 7 and on their journey to reunite with their squad, they stumble upon a tiny village under attack by the Imperial Army. Play as Edy and command your outnumbered team to defend the small village from annihilation.
• Selvaria’s Mission “Behind Her Blue Flame”– Taking place right after the outbreak of Gallian battle lines, you play as Johann, a young and meek engineer assigned to Selvaria’s troop. See the action as it unfolds behind enemy lines and see the war play out through the eyes of the enemy.
Selvaria was a bitch and a half to fight in VC, so it will certainly be interesting to play on her side. Hard EX Mode looks to be a killer, since the game is pretty damn challenging already. As for Edy’s mission, well, give me all the missions you can make, Sega! I’ll take them all. There were no prices listed so I guess we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see how much this will set us back.
And to be a total broken record, if you have a PS3, go play Valkyria Chronicles! Seriously! It’s even on sale at GameStop right now for $29.99. A great deal for a fantastic PS3 exclusive with DLC support; what more could you ask for?

BTW, price is 4.99 each, which to me is too steep. 4.99 for just one extra mission?
Ouch... I'm with you, Voyou. Each mission is probably 1-2 hours tops, five bucks is too much for that.
Bummer...
5 bucks for 2 additional hours.
You balk but how many 60 dollar games have you bought that turned out to be less than 12 hours long?
@loltim: That's true, it's definitely happened, but most of the time I only buy games if I know they have replay value.
Then there's all those 40-100 hour RPGs on my shelf...
Maybe $5 isn't so bad considering the price of recent DLC for some games.
Wait! You're all talking about $5 like it's the highest price out there on the PSN. Last I knew, $5 is half of a movie in theaters [these days] and is such a reasonable price for this DLC. I would just rather finish up the game THEN buy the additional missions.
That's all I have to say about that.
5 bucks is a movie for us here in Texas Q.
You're getting off cheap, then. That's a great thing! I think that where I live the economy, no matter what anyone says or hears, isn't as bad as "everyone" is making it out to be. If you want to find a job, you can get a job. That's how I look at it.
Oh. And this is definitely being purchased when I'm done with the main story.
