A video game “going gold”, or basically being 100% finished and ready to ship to retailers, is usually not that story-worthy; after all, every game must do it before releasing. However, you might be interested in knowing that stealth title Velvet Assassin has now gone gold, because the game was actually supposed to come out last week. For those who feared another last-minute delay, don’t worry: the game is super duper officially done, and will be out next week.


We still don’t actually know what the reason for the delay was, but at this point, it really doesn’t matter. If Southpeak needed an extra couple of weeks to clean things up, so be it, as long as the finished product is good. I’m actually looking forward to this more than any other title in the genre; it’s possible that the interesting backstory and basis in historical fact may outweigh my disdain for stealth games. We’ll find out whether or not Velvet Assassin’s two extra weeks have served it well on April 28, and expect a full review in the coming weeks.
