I wish I could say I’m playing a lot of games for fun this week, but really, it’s all about reviews. I would have a review of Castlevania: Harmony of Despair on Xbox Live Arcade for you today, but that game is brutally hard. After playing for hours this weekend, Jon Cooper and I weren’t even able to beat the second level, meaning either the game was designed for 3-6 players at a time, or we’ve both suddenly become really terrible at video games. Either way, I’ll be plugging away at frustratingly cheap boss fights until I’m ready to review the game.
Since just about every obscure Japanese RPG that comes into Gamervision HQ winds up on my desk, I’ve got a pair of them that I’m also working on. First up is Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City from Atlus, which will be out in late September. I wrote a preview last week, and I’m still really into it, even though it can be confusing and frustrating at times. Hey, what dungeon crawler isn’t? There’s also Arc Rise Fantasia, which I know absolutely nothing about, so… hopefully this will go well.
Okay, okay, I might sneak an hour or two into my second playthrough of Limbo, you caught me. I can’t help it! It’s so good! Once my review games are finally out of the way, I might be able to get into DeathSpank, which has been patiently waiting on my 360 hard drive for over a week. I’m sorry, DeathSpank. I’ll get there.
What’s everyone else playing this fine first week of August?
