What Are You Playing This Week?

Can you feel that? It’s coming. Another crowded, overwhelming, extremely awesome season of video game releases is on the verge of starting. Oh, it may not seem too crazy yet, but just give it a few weeks. The end of September will bring about an increase in releases, and once October hits things will just be crazy; don’t expect me to leave my house at all in November. This is the calm before the storm; enjoy it before the insanity breaks loose.
Personally, I’ll be playing a good amount of Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise this week. There is a lot of new content for a game that’s only $40, and it’s just as addictive as the first one. I was a little upset when I lost most of my first garden in a poisonous-weeds-and-Dastardos-aided piñata massacre (seriously, things got ugly), but I’ve since rebuilt the garden paradise and lured many more piñatas into residency. Expect a full review to be up soon.
I’m also playing Super Mario RPG on the Virtual Console, which I love, as I mentioned several times before. I really dig it when two genres come together as smoothly as role-playing and platforming do in this game. I don’t know how I’ve gone most of my life without playing this game, but I’m making amends now. In other Super Nintendo game news, I think I’m going to start playing through The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, which I’ve only played a few times in my life, and never all the way through. (Stop judging me, I never had a Super Nintendo when I was younger!) I really need something to do on Sundays while the main TV room is going to be football central, so the SNES and all of my older systems are going to be getting a lot of love between now and February.
I also still need to finish Psychonauts, since I got terribly distracted by PAX, Viva Pinata, and the fact that Super Mario RPG decided to finally show up on the Virtual Console. I’ve been pretty close to the end for weeks, I just haven’t had time to actually beat it. I’m also finishing up my review copy of Yggdra Union for the PSP, a tactical RPG that was a lot of fun, though sometimes frustrating. That review will be up tomorrow.

there's bound to be some Madden played. Hopefully some NHL 09... looking forward to strapping on the pads as a goalie... refreshing some of my Rock Band skills in prep for next week...
Madden, Geometry Wars (I got half-way to my 100million last night... closing in...), and I finally downloaded On the Rainslick Precipice on my Xbox (I played the Mac version previously... I want the achievements)...
NHL 09 with 00.19, beating Disgaea 3 (only 3 more chapters) and hopefully some SIREN, MLB 08 and Harry Potter.
Castle Crashers, Infinite Undiscovery, maybe some PSP goodness to be had. Don't know for sure, though, being that school is top priority until I re-learn how to schedule times to do homework and games. Haven't done that since high school. If anyone has any suggestions to help me make better time for work and play don't hesitate to drop me a line.
NHL09. That will be all sir.
Oh and Madden of course.
For Review: Infinite Undiscovery, Disgaea 3, Warhammer Online, Spore Creatures (DS). Spore Creatures likely on Tuesday during my three-hour break in classes, and Undiscovery as fast as possible to get it up.
For Fun: Castle Crashers, Spore, Viva Pinata 2, Super Mario RPG
