Where Are They Now: Adventure Island
A True Gamervision Story
by Sarah
Master Higgins, known for his series of explorations through islands of unknown location and origin, spent a good amount of time away from any kind of civilized culture. As we all know, he was a resident of some uncharted island filled with unimaginable creatures. He spent several years doing whatever he could to survive in the lands that time (and everyone else, apparently) forgot. He’s ridden dinosaurs and skateboards, learned to throw a mean tomahawk, and lived on nothing but fruits and berries. It seemed like no matter how many times he escaped danger, another challenge was hidden right around the corner. However, what few people know is how he came to be there, and what happened when the adventure ended. After some painstaking research, those answers have finally been revealed.
It all started on a small fishing boat in the middle of the uncharted sea. That’s where Higgins worked and lived, making just enough money to support his wife and newborn baby back at home. He was used to spending weeks at a time on the ocean, but always returned home to his family, where he was welcomed with open arms. This all changed one night, when the fates shifted and the tide changed.
He found himself caught in the midst of a terrible storm, in which all means of communication were badly damaged. Alone, he did everything he could to save his ship, but it was lost in a massive wreck. The next thing Higgins knew, he was waking up on the shore of what looked like a peaceful tropical island. Lucky to be alive, Higgins thought it was only a matter of time before he was rescued and returned home.
He soon found out that this was not at all the case, as the island was overrun with all kind of nasty creatures. However, he wasn’t about to give up, and he managed to forge himself some makeshift weapons and fought his way through forests, caves, and frightening dwellings of all kinds. He soon found out that this wasn’t the only island in the vicinity; there were others close by, easily reachable by raft. Unfortunately, the other lands he found were just as uninhabited by humans, and even more dangerous.

He managed to stay alive on each island, moving from time to time and having to adapt quickly to all of the dangers the wilderness presented. He also found out, after months of thinking otherwise, that he was not the only human on the group of islands: there was also a lovely girl named Tina, who apparently had never known any other home.
He quickly fell for her, while at the same time trying to stay loyal to his wife, whom he was determined to return to one day. Tina was constantly getting herself into trouble, and he took it upon himself to rescue her time and again. He managed to travel from island to island with his life and limbs intact, and even discovered several surviving species of dinosaur along the way.
Finally, the day came where he realized that he had to make a move if he wanted to leave the island. Though he was sorry to say good-bye to Tina, he didn’t want to abandon the family he had back home. He decided to throw caution into the wind and set out to sea once more in a raft made from island materials he had salvaged, knowing that it was his only chance. Eventually, while floating along the waves, he was spotted and picked up by the coast guard. At last, he was safe.
However, life back at home was not quite as peaceful as he had remembered. He had been gone for several long years, and his family and friends had all presumed him to be dead. His son, now a toddler, didn’t remember him, and his wife had since remarried. He was home, but he was still alone.
After spending several months severely depressed, living in a slum, and unemployed, Higgins realized that it was time for him to get his life together. Being a fisherman was the only career that he had ever known, but he had no desire to ever set foot on a ship again. Instead, he decided to chronicle his adventures in a series of books, and after getting them published, they all turned into instant best sellers. People went crazy over his epic adventures, which were eventually adapted into movies, comic books, and even video games.
Still, something wasn’t right. Higgins was now wealthy and a useful member of society, but he didn’t feel at home anymore. He was lonely and missed the outdoors; even more, he missed Tina. One night, he chartered a plane to fly him back out to sea, where he parachuted back down onto the island and was reunited with Tina. They are now happily together, living with their pet dinosaur.
