Where Did All Those Words in Scribblenauts Come From?
5th Cell Explains Research Process
by Sarah

One of the most impressive games Coop and I saw at E3 was Scribblenauts. In addition to being our favorite handheld game of the show, it was one of the best titles overall. Though the simplistic graphics might be misleading, Scribblenauts is one of the most original puzzle games to come along in years, due to the fact that you can type in almost any noun and the item will appear on your screen. Boat? Yes. Octopus? He’s there too. Cthulu? Lolcats? A dinosaur? A dragon? Done, done, done, and done. It may not take much to impress me, but a cat fighting a zombie will certainly do the trick.
So where did all those words come from, and who decided to put them in there? According to developer 5th Cell, it took months of research. Five employees spent six months poring over dictionaries, encyclopedias, Wikipedia, and all kinds of other things that had words in them. I can’t decide if that would be a fun or insanely tedious task, but at any rate, they did a great job. Ever since E3, I’ve been brainstorming what words I would throw in the game once the full version comes out later this year. Maybe I’ll just make an army of cats and see what happens.

I'd imagine the dictionary parts were rather boring, but Wikipedia had to be fun. Seriously, they brought all kinds of memes into this game.
I pity the guy who had to scan 4chan for memes.....
I want this game so badly.
I'm not sure where i saw it but i did see a video where someone did God vs a Kraken :P
i am so looking forward to this!
