Wii Fit Workout Update 06.25.08
Has it Really Been Five Weeks Already?
by Sarah
I can’t believe it’s been over a month since Wii Fit launched, considering how long I was looking forward to it. A lot of people I’ve talked to have been surprised that I’m still doing my daily Wii workouts; I must admit, I’m a little surprised myself. Somehow, I almost always manage to find time to do Wii Fit, even when I’d rather be sitting on the couch playing other video games.
However, in the interest of full disclosure, I will say that I have not lost any weight in the last week. I had actually gained a few pounds over the weekend, due to going to a wedding and eating (and drinking) more than I usually do. The next day, I woke up with a cold that kept me from exercising for two days. As of this morning, I was down to my new normal weight (still less than I weighed when I started Wii Fit), but I’m hoping that next week will be better.
I stated last week that I was going to do away with strength training for a few days and focus entirely on expert rhythm boxing, free step, and free running. As it turned out, this was not the best way to go. Free step, though longer than advanced step, definitely doesn’t pack the same calorie-burning punch, so after a couple of days, I went back to my strength/aerobic mix workout. I read today that having muscle causes you to burn more calories and eventually lose more weight, even though muscle weighs more than fat, so I’m going to make getting stronger more of a priority.
After doing Wii Fit every day for five weeks, some of its annoyances are starting to become more obvious. For example, most weeks I work out seven days a week, but occasionally illness or being out of town causes me to miss a day. The next day, I get this message from Wii Fit: “Too busy to work out yesterday?” What? Give me a break, dude, I’ve been working my butt off!
I have one week to go until I have to meet my next goal, but without being able to exercise earlier this week, I’m not sure if I will be able to hit it. Still, I have seven whole days left, so we’ll see. Is anyone else still doing Wii Fit on a regular basis, or am I the only one? Be sure to share your experiences with the rest of us.

im confused by some of the strength training exercises because i'm pretty sure i'm not doing them wrong. then again, laying down on the ground at work before lunch time is probably not the most comfortable setting and environment. :/
Lies and slanders! There is no such things as a WiiFit, it's a myth. I've scoured the countryside many times in search of this prize, and failed to do so. So unless I'm proven wrong, this is a legend and nothing more! ;)
Jeez Wii fit, lay off! I guess video games don't get sick so they don't know what it's like. They probably cry when they're turned off, wishing they were human. That's probably why it's so mean to you.
