Wii Price Drop Official, Effective September 27
Did I Just Blow Your Minds?
by Sarah

Listen, there is NO WAY you saw this coming! No freaking way. I have got a bombshell for you: the Wii is getting a price drop. No, I'm not gonna throw some more ads from various retailers in your face. I've got proof, in the form of a press release from Nintendo. I was actually about to call it a night when I saw this doozy of a headline in my inbox: "Wii at $199.99 Beginning Sept. 27". WHAT?????
Okay, I know, you already knew that was happening, so I'll cut the sarcasm. Honestly, I think Nintendo might be almost as bad at keeping secrets as Sony. Yes, the Wii will be $50 cheaper as of Sunday, so if you're the last person on the planet to get one, next week is the time to do it. I wonder if the new price will make the little white console a hot commodity come holiday season once again, because it seemed like, finally, stores were actually keeping them in stock.
I must commend Nintendo on being the only console publisher to keep one SKU and one price for almost three straight years. While Sony was dropping and adding models and prices left and right within months, the Wii stayed strong at a very reasonable $249.99 since November of 2006. Well done, guys. Just try a little better to keep your big news under wraps next time.

meh.. still no interest.l.
I'd buy one if I didn't already pick one up on, you know, launch day. Years ago.
meh, too late*
Never saw this coming. I'm shocked. Aghast.
I'd buy one, if the Wii wasn't a waggle delivery system for old people, women, and kids. No offense to old people and women. Kids on the other hand can suck it.
@ozymandias: Or for 200 bucks you can ignore the shovelware and get a system with plenty of under-appreciated games not aimed at seniors and kiddies.
But then again, I'm a woman, so what do I know about games?
