Wii Shop Update 07.07.08
Or, the Day the Internet Broke
by Sarah
Good afternoon, gamers! I apologize for the lateness of the Wii Shop Update, but it was beyond my control. As you may have guessed, there was a little trouble at Gamervision HQ this morning. A giant troll attacked the office, Roomba got out of his closet and tried to take over the world, and we celebrated Nikkita's birthday!
Anyway, you didn't miss much. That's not much of a surprise these days, is it? Newsflash: despite sitting on some great retro titles gamers would plop down some cash for in a second, Nintendo has decided to underwhelm us all once again. Meanwhile, Japanese Wii owners are happily playing Super Mario RPG and laughing at us. Jerks.

King of the Monsters
Neo-Geo
1-2 Players
900 Points
Released by SNK in 1991, King Of The Monsters is an action/fighting game that features city-destroying battles between huge monsters. Choose one of six monsters and travel around Japan, stopping to fight in various famous cities with the aim of becoming the ultimate winner. In addition to punches, kicks and other regular moves, each character has the ability to use more devastating maneuvers, like throwing flames and shooting laser beams, to defeat opponents. Wrestling elements are also incorporated, as you must completely exhaust your opponent and get a three-count to pin him and be victorious. Along with the player-versus-computer game, multiplayer options allow you and a friend to enjoy one-on-one matches and two-on-two tag-team matches against the computer. Take on the challenge and claim the title of King of the Monsters.

I have a memory of King of the Monsters being a good time. I just watched a video of it. I don't know what I could have been thinking.
Luke says it's fun, but not $9 worth of fun, apparently. Don't know how much fun that could be.
Like Sean, I had a good time with King of Monsters, but I doubt it would be the same experience this time around. Most likely won't be buying it, definitely not for $9. C'mon SMRPG, Earthbound, Secret of Evermore, Secret of Mana, and Lufia 1&2!
