Wii Zapper/Link's Crossbow Training - Wii
Surprisingly Fun
by Sarah
Game: Link’s Crossbow Training and Wii Zapper
Genre: Crossbow Simulation
Platform: Wii
As a lifelong Legend of Zelda fan, anything that puts me back into the land of Hyrule is worth a go in my book. Therefore, it shouldn’t be too surprising that I was more than willing to try out Link’s Crossbow Training. More of a mini-game or training device for the new Wii Zapper than a full game, Link’s Crossbow Training nonetheless delivers some fun, and proves that the Wii Zapper has potential to be a great peripheral for the system.
First things first, the game comes bundled in with the new Wii Zapper. The Zapper is designed to feel like a shooting device, and the remote and nunchuk are placed comfortably inside it for controls. Using the Zapper felt very natural. Aiming, shooting, and moving are all done with relative ease.
As for the game itself, though somewhat shallow, it is actually a whole lot of fun. Each level takes you to a different location around Hyrule, where you aim at either targets or actual enemies to rack up points. Simple, yes, but it works well. In addition to the single-player mode, which involves unlocking increasingly difficult levels, there is a fun multiplayer mode. Again, it’s relatively straightforward; up to four players take turns on a selected level trying to get the best score. It’s also worth noting that Joe got completely owned when he tried to challenge me today.
By itself, Link’s Crossbow Training is almost worth the price. The fact that it comes with the Wii Zapper just makes it even more worth it. I’m interested to see what games will be coming out to support it in the future (can we get a new Duck Hunt? Pretty please?). For $25, you’re getting a good deal.

wow, this looks really cool:D
the zapper, in my opinion, will limit what developers can and cannot do. i hope nintendo isn't pressuring any developer to use this because it looks kind of hard moving the nunchuk independently of the actual zapper when it's snapped in there like that.
I want this!
I didn't think I would want this, but then I saw Joe and Sarah playing with it. Now I think I must have it at any cost.
I have two problems - one with the Wii Zapper, the other one with Crossbow Training.
1) You could easily make a "zapper" yourself (I mean, what's the point? Why do you need it in the first place?). I really don't like that Nintendo is trying to force us to buy something that we won't need (and you can't really make anyone use this, by the way - it's not plugged in anywhere as far as I can see).
2) I don't like games that were only made to showcase what the Wii can do. We have Wii Sports. That's enough. Then we got Wii Play. That was more than enough (and rather bad). Now we get this. Ew. Go make real games, Nintendo. Stop trying to suck as much money as possible out of known characters.
Regardless: Good review. :)
Even though i use the zapper only for this game and LoZT, it's worth the 25$ just for the game. It's so addicting and fun, even my boyfriend loves it when he can pry enough time away from WoW. And as it's at a steal of a price.
