Xbox Live Gets More Social With Facebook and Twitter on Tuesday
“I’m Eating a Sandwich… And Playing Modern Warfare 2!”
by Sarah

Everyone is pretty excited about the upcoming Xbox 360 dashboard update, in which social networking tools Twitter and Facebook will be added to the 360, along with internet radio station Last.FM. After all, what would your friends do if they didn’t know exactly what you were doing during every second of the day? Well, you can stop holding your breath, because the update will be here soon—next Tuesday, November 17, to be exact. Thank goodness, because getting up from the couch to have to let all my Twitter friends know that I’m sitting on the couch playing video games is getting to be really annoying.
If you couldn’t tell, I’m less than excited by the prospect of having social networks readily available on my 360. I’m not even on the Facebook, mostly because I don’t particularly feel the need to be friended by people from high school I never liked to begin with. I do have a Twitter, but I tweet about nonsense like office ping pong rankings and my cat more than enough as it is. Just kidding—those are the two most important things in my life right now, and certainly not nonsense.

sweet. now i can continue to ignore facebook from the comfort of my XBL dashboard.
is this an optional thing or an automatic thing? because, if it's optional that seems fine for those who feel the need to be that constantly connected, but if xbox automatically updated your twitter and facebook every time you start a game/get an achievement/etc etc, that would be intensely annoying.
I don't know, if I can listen to last.fm while, say, getting my ass handed to me in Madden, it might be pretty cool.
I've been part of the preview, and I have to tell you....for the laggy website and system errors it took me to become a part of the preview, this really wasn't worth it.
The interface for Facebook and Twitter is pretty clunky to the point where I'd much rather use my iPhone.
LastFM is pretty cool for parties, but you can't use it while playing a game, so that makes it pretty lame.It is the ONLY program of the three I use though.
