There's an axiom about music that says, "if it's too loud, you're too old". And while I've never put much stock in that phrase, I'm starting to think maybe it should be reworded to something like, "if you don't know 75% of the bands on a game's soundtrack, you're too old". Case in point for that today would be the newly unveiled soundtrack listing for NBA 2K10. Filled with a plethora of "WHO?!" music acts, it reads like a who's who of get-with-the-times-old-man. While the names Kanye West, Ratatat and Flo Rida seem familiar, the rest are completely unknown to me.

In addition to the possibly obscure track listing (seen below), 2K has also announced that a select few of the musicians will be playable characters in the "Streetball" segment of the game. Those artists include Kanye West, The Game, Asher Roth, David Banner, Twista, and Pitbull. Perhaps by spending some time playing as them I will grow to have a greater appreciation of their music. It's doubtful, but possible.
