Although most of my day will be spent waiting for tonight when I can get home and pop in Dead Space 2, for those of you looking for a more first-person game to get into today, I'm here to tell you (via Major Nelson) about two free samples you could be trying out right now (if you're an Xbox Live Gold Member, that is). As of this morning, demos for both Bulletstorm and Crysis 2 are downloadable. If you know me, you know about my love for anything free, and a chance to test out two of the most anticipated shooters of the year is right up my alley.
The Bulletstorm demo will take you through the highrise building of the "Collapsed Building" level of the game in "Echoes" mode. You'll have access to three of the game's weapons, those being the PMC, Flail gun, and Screamer pistol. It will provide you your first chance to try out the skillshot system, with full leaderboard support. This one will be a single-player only experience.
On the other hand, if you're looking for a more interactive experience, the Crysis 2 demo is a multiplayer affair, and should be right up your alley. In it, you'll be able to test out the brand new customizable Nanosuit 2 with various weapons and aarmor in order to defend New York City against the invading alien horde.
The Bulletstorm demo will be coming to the PlayStation Network late tonight/early tomorrow with the Store update. However, sadly for PS3 and PC owners, the Crysis 2 demo is 360-exclusive. The full games are set to release in late February (Bulletstorm) and late March (Crysis 2). Until then, you'll be able to tide yourself over with the two demos.
