America's VGXPO Announces Line-Up

So Many Things to See... So Little Time...

by Sean

This coming November 2-4, the Philadelphia Convention Center will host America's Video Game Expo, another in a line of conferences that is attempting to fill the void left by the "man" taking E3 away from the little guy. There are some pretty big names in the world of gaming scheduled to be there, including the PMS Clan, Lorne Lanning (creator of Oddworld Inhabitants) and everyone's favorite litigator, Mr. Jack Thompson. Although Gamervision is sure to have a fairly strong presence on the floor of this show and will try to cover as much of the show as we can, there is a heck of a lot going on. Take a look at the itinerary for VGXPO and take a minute to tell us what events/booths/forums you think you'd like to hear about. And if you're going to be in or around Philly in the beginning of November, let us know and we can all meet up. Maybe get a coffee or something. Here's the line-up: ________________________________________________________________ Breaking In – The Game Conference GameJobs, the leading employment site serving the interactive entertainment industry, and America's VideoGame Expo are hosting a two-day seminar entitled 'Breaking In', a one-track conference aimed at providing employment tools and educational resources to people that want to find jobs in the videogame industry. At the 'Breaking In' conference you'll be provided with everything you need to know to find a job in the games industry. 'Breaking In' will showcase: * What you need to know about landing a job at a videogame company. * Information about colleges and universities offering education programs for game makers. * Details about the life cycle of a game development project. * And much more. 'Breaking In' will feature guest speakers from throughout the game industry and from recruiting groups such as Microsoft, GameJobs, GameRecruiter, and Mary-Margaret, IGDA, WIGI, Red Storm Entertainment, Large Animal Games, SMU, Full Sail, Digipen, and the Art Institutes. Spencer Halpin's: Moral Kombat – Comes Alive at VGXPO Moral Kombat is a feature-length documentary that studies the controversial subject of violence in videogames through a series of interviews with experts on both sides of the matter – some believing that violent games should be banned, others supporting their protection under the First Amendment. At VGXPO gamers will have an opportunity to preview the film and dive into the controversy with a live panel. Sure to be a major news event, this panel will be moderated by Newsweek's N'Gai Croal, and will feature Jack Thompson, Lorne Lanning and other special guests. Underground Gaming Series One of the premier video gaming circuits is coming to VGXPO! The Underground Gaming Series is the hottest new thing on the professional gaming scene.
