Another Day, Another Dark Void Trailer

This One is all About Stunts

by Sean

On Tuesday, Capcom told everyone that the Dark Void trailer that was sent out was the final one. Then yesterday, another video came out. And today, yet another one has been released, proving once again that the PR people at Capcom are either dirty dirty liars, or just don't know what the meaning of the word "final" is. Regardless, today brings with it this new trailer for the game, highlighting the airborne stunts you'll be able to pull off, using both the rocket pack and the various flying vehicles in the game.

As I've said before, it's far too early to make any kind of determination about how good (or bad) Dark Void will be, especially based solely on two minute video clips. However, this particular video does very little to allay my doubts about the game's seeming repetition of gameplay aspects. With this trailer, I'm particularly struck by the use of the quick turn around flying mechanic, which looks pretty cool the first time you see it being done with the rocket pack, but when you see that every other flying vehicle pulls off the same manuever, what started out cool quickly becomes played out. The good news is that there's only about a month before the game comes out, which means two things. First: we don't have that long to wait to find out if these fears are justified. Second: there's a finite amount of time for Capcom to release trailers.
