Last week our own Coop and HeyKidNiceRobot were in New York to check out a host of upcoming games from EA. Among the highlighted titles was Army of Two: The 40th Day. During the course of the interview, the PR rep talked about a lot of the aspects of the game, but one thing he stayed away from was any mention of a new multiplayer mode called "Extraction". He claimed that the company would be releasing some info on that mode this week, and it looks like he was as good as his word. Today, a new trailer is out for 40th Day, highlighting Extraction.

Take a look:

Extraction will be a four player co-op mode, in which two teams of two must work together to defeat wave after wave of enemies, and reach safety at an extraction point. EA is quick to point out that this is in no way a unique game mode, but that 40th Day will put a wrinkle into the mix. From the game's official site:

"[T]he difference lies in progressing through areas and moving around different battle zones in series of multiplayer maps.  We have four different areas that players will have to progress through on each map, and four maps in total for Extraction. The difficulty ramps up as players progress, but ultimately it's meant to be exceedingly difficult. We want to really get players sweating when they get to the end and have them feel like they are against insurmountable odds. For some players it will be difficult to get past even the first map, but fortunately you can choose to start on any map."

Gamers who pre-order Army of Two: The 40th Day will have the added bonus of being able to play Extraction for a full month before the game's release. The rest of us will just have to wait to try it out. Which camp will you be in? Will you be extracting Salem and Rios in December, or are you content to wait until the full release? If you're really anxious to know what to expect from the game, why not read Coop's preview?
