Battlefield: Bad Company 2 to Get More Maps on Release

Then, After that, MORE Maps

God good in heaven, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is shaping up to be one of the best games of the year. Hell, the demo alone could be counted as one of the best experiences so far in the early part of 2010, and, well, that's just the demo. EA seems to be taking extraordinary steps to ensure that gamers are all but drooling in anticipation of the sequel. To that end, a press release was sent out this morning to announce that upon release, the game will be adding a pair of new DLC multiplayer map packs at no charge. The new packs will feature the Laguna Alta map playable in conquest mode, and Nelson Bay, which will be playable in Rush. This brings the total number of multiplayer areas on the game's launch to ten.

Additionally, EA revealed that another map pack would be coming to the game later in March, again, at no cost to players. That pack will allow players to play the Arica Harbor map in Conquest mode and Laguna Presa in Rush. As if these three maps combined with the amazing demo weren't enough to convince you that this game is a day-one purchase, Patrick Bach, Senior Producer for Battlefield: Bad Company 2, has promised that EA will continue to add maps during the game's lifetime:

"These first two map packs are just the beginning. We’re planning ongoing support for the community by always keeping the experience fresh and ensuring the best possible gameplay experience."

If you haven't played the demo for this game yet, seriously, stop what you're doing right now and download it. You'll see that EA is dead serious about giving Modern Warfare 2 a run for its money in terms of multiplayer FPS games. And with not only the promise of continued support, but the actual delivery of that support, any fan of the genre should have pre-ordered Battlefield: Bad Company 2 long ago.
