Blake Griffin Named Cover Athlete for NCAA Basketball 10
Projected Top Pick Gets Top Honor
by Sean

Blake Griffin, the former Oklahoma Sooner power forward who is projected by most experts to be the first player taken in this Thursday's NBA draft, has been picked by EA Sports to be the cover athlete of their upcoming college basketball sim NCAA Basketball 10. Featuring the same pixilated background design that has become the hallmark of EA Sports' games for this year, Griffin will appear wearing his Sooners' crimson and cream. With the LA Clippers having the first pick in the draft, it's probably fair to say that nailing down the cover of the game will be the highlight of Griffin's week.
A quote in the press release, attributed to Griffin but sounding more like PR copy, had "Griffdawg" (honestly, that's his nickname) sounding very cheery, "Seeing myself on the cover of NCAA Basketball 10 is such a great tribute to my time at Oklahoma. I loved playing in front of passionate fans and competing against some of the best schools in the country. Now I am looking forward to competing at the next level against the best players in the world."
Unless I'm forgetting or overlooking something, this should mark the last of the announcements for 2010 EA Sports cover athletes. I suppose it's possible that EA could pick up the World Series of Poker license, but I don't know how excited anyone would get over a press release all about Johnny Chan. Well, maybe this guy:

"Geev thees man hees monney."

You think they would have picked a less blurry picture....
