Exactly a month ago today, 2K Games released Civilization V, the latest brainchild of Sid Meier to PC fans the world over, leaving Mac users crying into their over-priced lattes. Well OS X adopters, you can finally dry up those tears, as 2K has announced a partnership with Aspyr Media to bring the world domination simulator to Macintosh before the year is out. That's right, there is offiically going to be a Civ V Mac Edition.

There is no date given for the game's port, but an annoucement does reference the "holiday season". It's also not clear if the game will be released exclusively for Steam, or if there will be a full retail boxed version (although both seems likely). Regardless, it's nice to see that 2K didn't wait too long to bring what many think is the best iteration of a great franchise to the operating system of choice for a goodly number of people.
