Continuing the trend of adding somewhat popular, although mildly obscure, professional DJs in the upcoming DJ Hero, Activision has announced that French duo Daft Punk will be available as playable characters. This marks the first video game appearance for the wannabe robots, and the pair will be bringing eight "megamix" tracks to the table. The highlight, to me, is the mash-up of "Techonologic" and Gary Numan's 80s classic "Cars". You really can't go wrong when "Cars" is involved. The full track listing looks like this:
-- Daft Punk "Around the World" vs. Young MC "Bust A Move"
-- Daft Punk "Da Funk" vs. NASA "Strange Enough ft. Karen O, ODB and Fatlip"
-- Daft Punk "Da Funk" vs. Queen "Another One Bites the Dust"
-- Daft Punk "Robot Rock" vs. Hashim "Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)" -- Produced and mixed by The Scratch Perverts
-- Daft Punk "Robot Rock" vs. Queen "We Will Rock You"
-- Daft Punk "Short Circuit" vs. Boogie Down Productions "Jack Of Spades"
-- Daft Punk "Technologic" vs. Gary Numan "Cars"
-- Daft Punk "Television Rules The Nation" vs. No Doubt "Hella Good"
In addition to the announcement, Activision also tossed a handful of screenshots and a trailer featuring the fellows into our laps. You can see the screens below the video, which is pretty awesome. DJ Hero drops on October 27th. There's still no word on how Courtney Love feels about the whole thing.
