Dante's Inferno Developer Diary Examines Greed

EA Looking Closely at Greed? How Introspective...

by Sean

Admit it, you love watching new gameplay footage of Dante's Inferno, don't you? In fact, it's probably accurate to say that you're greedy for more views of EA's vision of the underworld. Well, you should make sure to keep that greed in check, lest it become your downfall. The fourth circie of hell in Dante Alighieri's poem, as well as Visceral Games' upcoming Dante's Inferno, is set aside for those who have committed the deadly sin of Greed. And in the latest developer diary for the game, the team behind the hellish title delve into that particular aspect of their hero's psyche, and of that area of the underworld. It becomes revealed that Greed will be the level where we not only start to learn more about Dante's past, but it is also deemed the "cerebral" level, with lots of mechanized puzzles.

It's not every day that one hears the word "poet" and "badass" in the same sentence, but if anyone can pull that off, it's Visceral Games. Although some early buzz says that Dante's Inferno may rely a little too heavily on quick-time-events, I'm still cautiously optimistic that this will be one of the better games of early 2010. Maybe I'm just being greedy...
