Dead Space Extraction Trailer Terrifies
The Marker Returns to Cause More Madness
by Sean

Dead Space is, without question, one of my favorite current-gen games. As far as I was concerned, there was very little that this game got wrong. From genuinely terrifying enemies, to incredible level and sound design, right down to an array of industrial tools doubling as a weapons cache, it was as immersive a game experience as I've come across in a long time.
When I heard the word "sequel" being tossed around, I was naturally excited. However, when that was followed with the words "Wii exclusive" and "on-rails shooter", I will admit that my excitement level abated a bit. It's not that the Wii can't deliver a quality mature gaming experience (see: MadWorld or No More Heroes), it's just that those games have been the exception, not the rule. I wasn't overly excited to waggle my way through more necromorph-fueled terror. But most of the early press to come out about Dead Space Extraction has been encouraging, with the general buzz saying that Visceral Games has been able to bring a lot of the same aspects to Extraction that made the original so good. Take, for example, the new trailer that dropped today.
Apart from bringing in a few new enemy character models, there's a lot of goodness going on in this trailer. One of the few complaints I would have made about the first Dead Space was that all the other non-enemy characters felt disconnected from Isaac, but this trailer gives me reason to think that your friends will have a bigger part to play. There seems to be very few times when you, as the protagonist, will be left alone, and with the madness infecting the other characters, I can see how they will feel more realistic.

I'm not really that scared. I mean, it's a little scary, but I only peed a little.
