Dead Space: Ignition Gets Dated for Release

Comic-Styled Puzzle Game Releasing Next Week

by Sean

Dead Space 2 will not hit consoles until next year, and that's only if it doesn't get delayed. Fans of the series will have to wait until January for the chance to step back into the boots of Isaac Clarke, but that doesn't mean that you can't get some Unitology-based gaming in before then. Back in July, Visceral announced Dead Space Ignition, a downloadable game set a few hours before the beginning of DS2. Thanks to Major Nelson, we now know that the game will release on XBLA next Wednesday, October 13th, which one could assume mean that the game will release on the PSN on Tuesday the 12th, since Tuesdays are PS update days.

The game will sell for 400, which likely means a $4.99 price point in the PlayStation Store. While it sounds like a really low price, you should remember that the game is essentially a series of comic-inspired still frames linked together with hacking mini-games. Ignition does have the distinction of being scripted by Antony Johnston, the man responsible for both the Dead Space and Dante's Inferno comics, which means that there will be a good sense of continuity.
