Saints Row is generally known as nothing more than a Grand Theft Auto clone. Actually, make that a surprisingly good, buggy GTA clone. Even though it had some elements that were superior to GTA, the fact that it came second and the overall bugginess of the build kept it from getting out from under the Grand Theft shadow.

Yesterday in London the sequel, Saints Row 2, was debuted. A producer from the developer, Volition, copped to the fact that when the game ships, it "won't be bug free". He went on to say that they are doing everything they can, including assigning "a full QA team" to get it to as good as they can.

The fact is that very few games end up on store shelves without some amount of bugs, and I think that this kind of frank honesty from a game creator is a fresh change of pace. I do wonder though if this announcement is more about being honest with gamers or attempting to head off the inevitable negative feedback that will come when the reviews come out.

Reviewers: "This game is crazy buggy!"

Volition's PR Machine: "We told you so!"
