Disney Set to Make Tron Light Cycles a Reality
Sadly, Only In Scale Model Form (For Now)
by Sean

Pop quiz: what's cooler about the Tron universe: the ability to destroy someone by hitting them with a disc or racing around on a Light Cycle? If your answer is the first one, you're a psychopath. Also, you're wrong. The correct answer was, and forever will be, the Light Cycle. Granted, I'm sure we all know someone we'd like to turn into a pile of pixels merely by hitting him (or her) with a frisbee, but racing at nearly light speed on a bike that leaves a phosphorescent trail behind you? Yeah, that's among the coolest things that anyone has ever come up with. And you? You've always wanted to own a Light Cycle. Of course you have, you're intelligent and you can spot awesome from a mile away. Well, with the recently announced Collector's Edition of Tron: Evolution, your dream of Light Cycle ownership is now one step closer.
Seen above, the limited edition doesn't really come with a whole lot, especially when compared with some other recently announced packs. However, unlike those packs, it will include a Light Cycle designed by Sideshow Collectibles, which gives it that much more of a leg up. It will also contain a collectible case for your Cycle, and the case itself has a drawer which could hold your copy of Tron: Evolution. Available for the 360 and PS3, it will retail for $130.
While this isn't as awesome (or as street legal) as the actual Light Cycle that was being sold on eBay back in early July, it's probably as close as any of us will get to owning one for ourselves. While the price tag may seem a little high for such a small offering of goodies, bear in mind that Sideshow is known for making super high quality models, so it's not exactly like getting a poseable action figure.

I think I'll stick with just seeing the movie. Might rent the game. Might not.
