Donkey Kong Returns in this Donkey Kong Country Returns Trailer

Nostalgia Wins the Morning

by Sean

What you see above is the latest gameplay trailer for Donkey Kong Country Returns, the highly-anticipated (at least by me) Nintendo platformer, due out in just about two weeks. While it's not the first time we've seen the game in action, it certainly is the most expansive and detailed trailer to date. It delivers a good mixture of what kind of levels we'll be playing, the variety of enemies that will oppose us at every turn, and, of course, more bananas than you can shake a stick at.

I'm not going to lie here, I was pretty much sold on this game based solely on the name. The original Donkey Kong Country for the SNES is still one of my all-time favorite games, and I still play it from time to time on the Virtual Console. It looks like Nintendo kept that classic in mind while developing the new iteration, and didn't stray too far from the formula that has served the series so well for so many years. The game is set to release on Sunday the 21st, which is undoubtedly when I'll be playing it. How about you?

I can't wait. I actually felt stupid for a while for still owning a wii. (Which is now a glorified netflix machine.) But as games like this, Galaxy, and NEW SUPER MARIO BROTHERS slowly trickle out I feel a little more justified hanging on to it.

@Dabuek - well said. I've often considered selling off my Wii. Then NSMB hits, and then Donkey Kong Country Returns exists... Skyward Sword... next year's Tiger Woods golf... it's just... they've got me.
