Lost Planet 2 was first  announced in late February of this year for the Xbox 360 and PC. But even before official word came out of Capcom about the sequel, the rumor mill was abound with speculation that the game was being developed for several platforms. And for the past few months those rumors have been just that, unconfirmed gossip. During their chock-full-o-stuff presser today, Sony confirmed that Lost Planet 2 will definitely be coming to the PlayStation 3.

It's still not clear whether or not the three platforms' versions will ship simultaneously or if LP2 will see a staggered release schedule as the first did. I feel like Sony wouldn't have made such a big deal about getting Lost Planet 2 if the ship date was half a year behind the other versions, but I guess only time will tell. Regardless, Sony fanboys have many happy wishes to put under their pillows tonight. Sweet dreams you princes of Blu-ray, you kings of Tretton.
