E3 10: Another New Gran Turismo 5 Trailer
Sony and Polyphony Pile It On
by Sean
If you're anything like me, you've gone so long without seeing anything new from the long-awaited Gran Turismo 5 that any little scrap of information about the game is enough to get you salivating. So for there to be a week where we get countless screenshots, a release date, and a bunch of brand new video footage is like getting Christmas in June. To that end, here's another new trailer, this one giving gamers their first look at the Top Gear Lotus-designed Dunsfold test track, as well as that show's mysterious race driver, "The Stig".
Behold!
From what Mike tells me, The Stig is a pretty big deal, for people that move in those circles. Apparently he's a man who, according to Top Gear's official site, "sucks the moisture from ducks and has two sets of knees". While I'm not exactly the biggest Top Gear fan, insofar as I've never seen an episode, I'm still excited by what I see in this trailer. To me, the most tantalizing moment comes at about 1:20 when the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO clips the wall and rolls over. We're teased with the prospect of damage modeling, as you can see the dent in the front quarter panel where the car struck the barrier, but then the shot changes, and we don't get to see the full crash. Now I feel greedy - I've gone so long without anything, and now I want it all.
