Echochrome Trailer Shows Lots of WOW!

M.C. Escher Would Be Proud

by Sean

Since it was first announced at last year's E3, there has been a nearly constant buzz surrounding Sony Japan Studio's upcoming puzzle game Echochrome. Fans of puzzle games, surrealist artwork, or black and white things have been equally intrigued by the game's seemingly simple interface overlying its many layers of complexity.

Today a new trailer hit the tubes showing off not only what Sony is calling "The 5 Perspective Laws" but also some of the game's custom level-building tools. Here it is:

Suffice it to say, this game looks absolutely amazing. At first I was a little afraid that there are only 56 levels, but I'm totally psyched by the idea of custom level building; especially since it looks so easy. Although Japanese gamers have been tripping out to Echochrome since March 9th, no stateside date has been announced yet. Stay tuned.

This game will kick ass. No question. I got a chance to play it a little at GDC and it made a big impression on me. I can't wait for the US release.
