Eidos Files Trademark for Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days
Let's Hope These Dogs Will Hunt
by Sean

It looks like Kane and Lynch, the two sociopaths gentlemen whose game Kane & Lynch: Dead Men was responsible for one of the more memorable controversies of recent memory (the un-cleverly named "Gerstmann-gate"), along with a string of fictional homicides and murders, will soon be returning to consoles. Last Wednesday, Eidos filed a trademark application for Kane & Lynch: Dog Days. While it isn't exactly earth-shattering news that a game that Eidos threw a record marketing budget behind would be getting a sequel, this is the first time we've seen the actual name.
Kane & Lynch: Dead Men was a game for which a lot of gamers and critics had high expectations, but that ultimately came up just shy of "meh". Although the idea of storming banks with three other co-horts, a la Michael Mann's film Heat, seemed like it was a can't-miss, it somehow did. The lack of online mission co-op, no support for voice chat on the PS3 version, and an overall lack of polish to the final game kept K&L:DM from being a classic. Let's hope Eidos has learned from the feedback, and with Dog Days are ready to give gamers the experience they'd hoped the first one would provide.
The trademark application doesn't provide any dates or real details (they rarely do), but as soon as Eidos makes something official, we'll let you know.
