I know that most Americans tend to think of soccer about as often as they think about the GNP of Uzbekistan, but that doesn't make it any less popular around the world. And with the recent success of the American soccer team (second place in the FIFA Confederations Cup, in case you care), the time may be just right for a newfound love of the game others call "football" to permeate American culture. Of course everyone said the same thing in 1996 when the MLS started professional American soccer, and then again in 1999 when the US women's team beat China to win the World Cup, but I digress.

Regardless of your feelings on the world's most popular sport, the fact is that the next annual installment of EA's FIFA-licensed game, FIFA 10, is going to sell millions of copies people who know their Kaká from their Ronaldinho. And to help whet the appetities of those foreign masses, EA has released a teaser trailer for FIFA 10.

See that? How's that for a trailer? All the greats are featured! There's, uh, the guy who kicks the ball. And then you get to see the guy in the red jersey who plays for that team everyone loves. Oh man, and the black-and-white team guy who kicks the ball away from the goal! That was my favorite moment.

Okay, so just like every other American, I have a hard time telling the players apart from one iteration of FIFA game to the next. But that doesn't mean I can't get excited by what looks like amazing graphics, realistic gameplay, and what I'm sure is going to be a roster of players hundreds deep. Luke will be heading to EA's studios later this month to get some hands-on time with FIFA 10, so be sure to check back for that. This game is now officially on my radar. Anyone else care?
