Above you will see the first trailer for Dead Space 2, EA's much anticipated follow-up to the instant survival horror classic. The video is filled with the expected shots of salivating necromorphs, a look at the chill-inducing marker, and a recurring theme of Rorschach ink blots. While the monsters and religious artifacts are nothing new for the franchise, it seems as though the ink blot motif will be a key point for the game, as evidenced by the mailings that went to various gamers late last week.

However, throughout the trailer, there are also instances of writing in the game's unique langauge, the Unitology script. There are occassional instances in the video where the text seems to be swirling out of focus, but there are also times when the writing comes in pretty clear. Below you can see some screen captures of those frames, with the script translated.

@42 Seconds - KEY and KONVERGE

Here we see clearly the word "Key" on the left side of the screen, and, in the second instance of the day of a developer that doesn't care about spelling, the word "Konverge" is repeated over and over again. Spelled correctly, and used without an object, the word "converge" means "to tend to a common result", which seems to be the overriding ideal of Unitology, albeit through death.

@ 1:00 - KONVERGE

Once again, we see the word "Konverge", this time super-imposed over Isaac Clarke's eye, just before the mask closes. Could this be more evidence that the events of the end of the first game may have had a deeper and longer-lasting effect on Isaac than we knew?

@ 1:14 - REBORN AS ONE 614

In keeping with the "Konverge" theme, this slate reads "Reborn as one". Could this be another clue that Isaac may be having more Unitology-inspired ideas? "614" could indicate a date of June 14th, which happens to coincide with EA's E3 press conference. The odds seem pretty good that we will all learn more on that day.
